Two national institutions (concert and symphonic), conductive to the classical music history in Lithuania, mark their 70th anniversary with a number of first-class performers and two works which have become symbols of the European musical culture. Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy’s Violin Concerto and Ludwig van Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, the two substantial and innovative scores, have turned into true locomotives of Western classical music hauling along a string of great masterpieces.
