Music and dances from the 13th – 16th c. Spanish and Italian courts

Early Music and Dance Ensemble Banchetto musicale together with soloist Judita Leitaitė embark on a voyage to 13th–16th century Spanish and Italian courts. The palace of Alfonso X, the Wise One, was the setting for talented artists of various confessions – Christians, Muslims, Jews. Their art imprinted music of the time as well as centuries to come. Manifestation of this is especially obvious in songs of Sephardim’s – the Jews expelled from the Iberian Peninsula. Guglielmo Ebreo da Pesaro, the author of the treatise on dance, was the most famous choreographer in 15th-century Europe. Italian Renaissance choreographers were closely associated with the Duchy of Naples ruled by Spanish Empire. The ensemble’s new programme Secrets of Iberia offers charming combinations of different epochs and genres.
