Part of the MUSIC IN TRAKAI CASTLE SERIES
Saluting the 70th anniversary season, the Lithuanian National Philharmonic Society carries on with concert series Music in Trakai Castle. The first concert presents the Čiurlionis Quartet regarded as one of today’s most inventive, expressive and technically advanced Lithuanian ensembles, and vocal group Jazz Island. Established in 1991, the group was hailed the best vocal group in Lithuania in 2007 and awarded The Golden Bird prize. The concord of voices and refined perception of various styles in its a cappella singing continues to mesmerise
audiences. In the autumnal afternoon, both collectives will fill the domes of Trakai Castle with subtle academic classical music and freewheeling jazz. This unique project intertwines vintage classics performed by the four gentlemen and jazz standards, popular melodies and the sutartinė (Lithuanian folk song).
