The great French masters and their music, pulsating in accord with poetry of their contemporaries, such as Charles Baudelaire, Théodore Gautier, Leconte de Lisle and symbolist verses by Paul Verlaine… The magic of words saturates music with yearning, dreams, and love passion. The Quartet and our beloved soloists Edmundas Seilius and Kristina Zmailaitė will revive this colourful French love terrain.
The couple of young vocalists got actively involved in Lithuania’s music life while still students. K. Zmailaitė made her debut as Missis Ford in O. Nikolai’s opera Merry Wives of Windsor at the Klaipėda Musical Theatre. She has also appeared in other roles at the Kaunas Musical Theatre. Romeo in Gounod’s Romeo et Juliette, Pang in Puccini’s Turandot, Leopold in Halévy’s La Juive, Alfredo in Verdi’s La Traviata, Rinuccio in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi – those are just a few skilfully presented characters from Seilius’s repertoire. The popular vocalist once said, that he enjoys performing for small audiences: “Then the soloist and audience have a direct exchange of good energy. I have to confess, I often feel this connection.”
