Part of the MUSIC IN TRAKAI CASTLE series
This kind of bassoon ensemble is unique not only in Lithuania but also in the Baltic States. Fifteen years ago an ardent bassoon advocate Šarūnas Kačionas gathered four likeminded musicians into a vibrant team called Vilnius Bassoons, which continually treats its audiences with memorable programmes. The ensemble’s repertoire spans from Baroque to contemporary opuses. Unorthodox ensemble lends new colours to time-proven masterpieces and enhances contemporary opuses.
Young soprano Marta Lukošiūtė, having graduated from the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre under the Prof. Virgilijus Noreika and familiar to many of us from the TV project “Triumfo arka” (The Arch of Triumph), is most often heard in opera repertoire. This time she happily joins the programme of the Vilnius Bassoons dedicated to the St Valentine.
