Part of the MUSIC IN TRAKAI CASTLE series
The legendary cellist Pablo Casals used to say: “Schumann’s every opus is saturated with inspiration.” P. Tchaikovsky wrote: ”Even the smallest piano piece by Schumann is imbued with extraordinary charm and genial mastery.” Franz Liszt noticed Schumann’s persistent attempt to combine his both vocations – as a musician and literary artist. The remarks of the great musicians usher the audience into the meeting with the illustrious 19th-century romanticist. Vilnius String Quartet, the leading Lithuanian chamber ensemble, together with Ona Kolobovaitė, the soloist of the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre and the winner of the “Triumfo arka” (The Arch of Triumph) competition, invite to a wonderful musical story – Schumann’s A Woman’s Love and Life to the poems of German poet Adelbert von Chamisso. In the same way as other songs written at the time this opus reveals an outbreak of the composer’s feelings when after a long-lasting friendship he finally succeeded to unite with his beloved Clara Wieck.
