French composer Camille Saint-Saëns composed his zoological fantasy Le Carnaval des Animaux when he was over fifty. This suite is saturated with captivating images flavoured by picturesque characteristics, humour and fascinating lyricism. For these characteristics his Russian colleague C. Cui considered C. Saint-Saëns to be the most musical French composer of the period. Indeed, the composer of  “Le Carnaval des Animaux” began his musical path at a very young age. His father was interested in literature and wrote poetry, his artist mother was a master of watercolour, and the future composer was taken care by his grandmother – excellent pianist. Camille started playing piano when he was three, and wrote down his first composition at the age four and a half.

Organised in association with the Klaipėda Concert Hall
