Part of the CHRISTMAS MUSIC WEEK
In the olden times Christmas was celebrated three days. In winter time there is less work outside of the house, thus one only needs to make errands at home and take care of livestock. During the first day of Christmas it was allowed to do only the obligatory work. Traditionally, on the Christmas morning before breakfast the entire family would sing Christmas carols, then congratulate each other, and only then would gather around the breakfast table. Before daybreak, the hay was cleaned from the Christmas Eve table and given to the animals. It was important to count the seeds that have fallen from the hay. Many seeds was a sign of a good harvest. Also, if Christmas was white, it meant that Easter would be green. If there was no snow on Christmas morning, it meant that it would be snowing on Easter.
