Part of the CHAMBER MUSIC SERIES
The Vilnius String Quartet continues with the 45th anniversary series and invites to an evening of Beethoven’s music.
“The ensemble performed Beethoven brilliantly: precise musical structures, austerity and simplicity – their interpretation lacked nothing that this music requires”, wrote German daily Frankfurter Allgemeine about the Vilnius String Quartet in 1996. The Quartet earned great accolades after the performance in Luxembourg in 2004: “…absolute music and Beethoven’s spiritual depth was conveyed with deep trepidation. The Vilnius String Quartet has accumulated the spirit of Beethoven and brought it to us” (Journal). Beethoven’s music occupies a special place in the Quartet’s repertoire: ten years ago the ensemble gave a unique series of eight concerts "The complete string quartets by L. van Beethoven."
Having chosen Beethoven’s two late string quartets for the concert at the Museum of Applied Art, the Vilnius String Quartet invites to let yourself be guided by musicologist Viktoras Gerulaitis into immensely profound music once more.
