Part of the CHAMBER MUSIC SERIES

Having noticed the talent of his young colleague, Liszt supported him in every possible way. In the meantime, Bedřich Smetana became one of the most prominent Czech composers, the founder of the Czech national school. An ardent patriot of Czech music he was one of the first composers to convey the native setting to his music. Smetana wrote just a few chamber opuses, among them a Piano trio, composed after the death of his daughter Bedřiška in 1855. The thirty-year-old composer’s emotional range alludes to that of Schumann; also obvious are references to Liszt’s musical realm. The trio is of elegiac character. Works of Mozart and Haydn, the Austrian musical geniuses, lend the 18th-century lucidity to the programme of the Kaskados Piano Trio. Jurgis Juozapaitis, a composer of Moonlight trio (along with other works awarded the Lithuanian National Prize, enjoyed by Lithuanian and foreign performers), in his new opus Lilit gets fascinated with the theme of Moon once more, but this time turning to its invisible side.
