Part of the CHAMBER MUSIC SERIES
“Vilniaus arsenalas’ resourceful approach to the works performed revealed each composer’s idiosyncratic vocabulary, mood shadings and range of colouring. I was fascinated again <…> by Laima Šulskutė’s transparent flute, Sergejus Okruško’s reserved harpsichord and Rolandas Romoslauskas’ mat viola," wrote one listener from Kaunas. This time the chamber trio’s traditional autumnal concert in ‘its own’ concert venue is enhanced by the voice of the audience’s favourite Natalija Katilienė. The performers focus on baroque treasures: fragments from operas that frequented European opera houses several centuries ago, arias written by the composers also famed as singers, as well as instrumental masterpieces. Faithfully following its principle to promote Lithuanian music Vilniaus arsenalas premieres two Lithuanian opuses. “Man’s emotion is merely a distorting mirror, for thoughtful and subtle composure often brings a spontaneous flow of sounds, whereas furious spell – an aria. Elegiac and ephemeral…," describes her new instrumental opus Zita Bružaitė.
