The National Philharmonic Society’s jubilee concert season marks a good many of meaningful anniversary. The Vilnius String Quartet, the recipient of the Lithuanian National Arts and Culture Prize and the Baltic Assembly Prize, celebrates its 45th anniversary this season. Formed almost half a century ago this ensemble continues to impress with its inexhaustible energy and creative ideas. Opuses by the Lithuanian composers, often premiered by the Quartet, occupies an important place in its vast repertoire of about 500 works. Thus it is not accidentally the ensemble opens its jubilee season with Lithuanian music ushering the audiences into the world of Onutė Narbutaitė, Julius Juzeliūnas, Vytautas Laurušas and Stasys Vainiūnas.
